Please Support Equal Access to Islamic Knowledge
Bismillah.
In Washington DC, hundreds of Muslim youth have entered the fold of Islam, many of them while they were in juvenile centers. When they come out, they have an insatiable thirst for Islamic knowledge. Unfortunately, our institutions lack either the capacity or concern to fulfill the needs of these brothers and sisters.
Last year, we were able to raise $900 to send five brothers to the SeekersGuidance Appalachian Retreat. This was a life-altering event for those that attended and inspired them to improve their situations. One of the attendees said "If it wasn't for the retreat, I probably wouldn't be Muslim today."
Today, we're hoping to send 10-15 of the youth to the program and need to raise $3,500 in order to do so. We're not asking you to give out of pity, but because it is a fardh kaffayah to promote the transmission of Islamic knowledge. Islam is not just for wealthy Arabs and Desis in the suburbs who can afford weekend seminars and getaway trips in far off lands. Islam is for everyone. No one gets left behind.
